Why I Love The Greek Language So Much

The truth is, I love all the languages. I love all the languages, because I love all the humans that are all around the world. Every tribe has a story to tell. All languages have magnificent and charming roots, that I would die to explore.

No matter how much time I have in my hands to work on it, this is not possible. And this is what keeps me on the ground and reminds me how small I am.

I can’t swim in the five oceans, but I can help others swim in my sea. This helps me and motivates me swim in the sea of others too, a procedure really exciting.

So today, I will mention only some of the reasons why I love the Greek language, for those that are interested in learning it.

  1. It is great exercise for the brain. The Greek language seems to be difficult when someone sees it for the first time. If you take the steps in the correct order though, it becomes the perfect game for the brain! I am sure it helps us work our brain like the most interesting muscle it is. It makes us smarter and you know how this works. The more you work with your brain, the prouder and satisfied you feel and you can go deeper and achieve more. The older we get the most useful it becomes, and that’s what I love the most!
  2. The Greek language is a sweet grandma. I would say the sweetest grandma of all, but ok, I will keep it humble. The truth is, the Greek language is the oldest language that is still spoken today. This gives great potential for the student to find ancient words that either have died or are still alive and recognize its offsprings in their own language.
  3. You welcome Greek Philosophy into your life. When you learn a language you don’t just learn vocabulary and grammar. Or at least, this is what you shouldn’t do. When we learn a new language we get into the everyday life of a civilization, history, music and whole culture. As you go deeper, you may find aspects in this whole new area, that will help you in your everyday life and emotional struggles. You may start this new hobby for the language, but have you ever tried to get to know Greek philosophy and mentality? You will love it, and who knows, maybe you will find solutions there.
  4. Greek Art. Now, another thing I love. Greek art. An area that I think is not popular abroad. Greece has got great theater and music between the decades of 1950-1970, or even earlier in the ’20s. If you find someone that loves art and has investigated this particular area, you will find yourself astonished having opened a new window for yourself with a great view to the stars. I wish I could tell you how many times I feel proud of understanding the words of poetry into books and music.
  5. We all speak Greek. Your own language can take another dimension after you get to understand the Greek language and the journey that words make. As we mentioned before, words that we all use in many Latin origin languages have Greek explanations. If you get to know them, you will know what you use and why. I don’t know about other people. For me, this is the most exciting and brain-friendly game to help ourselves become even smarter and educated humans. For our won benefit.

Here is another article I wrote about the benefits of the Greek language in our life and why I love the Greek language so much.
