When Is Your New Year’s Eve?

Setting goals in New Year’s Eve and achieving them.

Do the program and the system work for all? And if not, what the person that can’t fit in it can do about that?

I have always been a strange person. As a student, I could never understand why people had decided to set goals for the New Year’s Eve in the middle of the year! I mean, for me, in January I feel that some months of the year have already passed. How is it possible to start my year, when I feel that I am in the middle of it?

For me, the New Year would always start at the beginning of the school year. The hot Summer season and the break were over, I was full of this beautiful feeling of enthusiasm about the new beginning at school. I never felt enthusiastic about the change of the calendar year.

I have always felt that in September it is me that changes, while in January the one that changes is the year on the calendar.

Now that I see the past more clearly, I can almost be sure that this misconception delayed my growth. Losing many years in finding excuses about setting goals in January and missing them every year, was something that really made me feel guilty.

I think we all have seen people setting goals on the 1st of January that doesn’t even last a month or even week.

When I was younger, I was reluctant about this thought of mine. My mum used to say that I am weird and I always find things to oppose to.

That wasn’t true. I just couldn’t feel that the common calendar served my personal need. And that was ok, but I didn’t know that back then. I just felt that nothing was right for me.

And you know what? If we see people around us and the wishes they make every year, the common New Year Eve serves almost no one.

The years went by with many ups and downs. My incapability to follow in most of the things made me feel depressed.

When I decided to change for myself and finally started an organized plan to follow myself, every weird thing that first was uncomfortable worked for my personal benefit. This phenomenon skyrocketed when I decided that I will forever be my own student. All the taboos that kept me behind in my learning procedure went away one by one.

Now I am openly like:

September: New goals, new pencils, new notebooks YES YES YES !!!

My personal New Year’s Eve is on the 31st of August. I enjoy myself then and I organize myself for the first of September.

And I follow it! Why? Because it is mine.

Because this is how I feel! We always truly follow what we feel! And this flows so naturally, that it is pleasure and not a task. This is a huge difference.

Let’s do what works for us and only for us. Set a New Year’s Eve for yourself and start doing the work that serves your dream.
If one of your dreams has always been to learn Greek, or any other language, for your fun and only, set a New Year Eve for yourself.

It can apply to anything. Starting a hobby, reading, quitting smoking, changing anything that can help us feel better.

It can be your birthday, or a date when you personally overcame a huge mountain of your life. This date might be important for you and it can be a great start for you again and again!

Common New Year’s Eve can be a reason for gathering and celebration with our loving ones, and deep inside it can be our personal pleasure to keep on pushing and working on ourselves.

But the new start for ourselves can be any time we choose and no other person has to know about it. We don’t always need to do what the others do. Maybe the opposite.

It is from us to us.

This can become the biggest gift we can offer to ourselves and the beginning of the narration of a beautiful story , that will be ours.

Happy New Year’s Eve to anyone that celebrates the beginning of the Year in the beginning of the school year!

Happy New Year, whenever you choose to celebrate it!
