The Perfect Moment: When Should You Start Learning Greek?
Some years ago, I would have never imagined that Greek would ever be a popular language. I thought that very few people would want to take up Greek.
But then, I thought of all these people that visit Greece and they really love this country with all their hearts. I noticed that there is something unique with tourists that visit Greece.
Most of them say the phrase: ” I found my soul in Greece” or “Greece has become my second or even my home country”.
These emotions are not something that you can easily hear. We all visit other countries or love their music and food. But there is something special about this green land with the thousands of islands in the Mediterranean Sea. I am not sure if I know what it is.
But then I thought: “Why not some of them want to learn Greek?”
Afterwards, I thought of all these young people, people of my age, that have immigrated all over the world for the past ten years. These people have surely met partners from all around the world, partners that may be interested in learning the mother tongue of the partner they love.
And I was right! So many people that want to learn Greek often get in touch with me! I have thought about that, and if you ask me, I am determined that this gesture is the most wonderful thing that a person that says they love someone, can do. To dedicate their time and effort to learn how to communicate with you in your language.
I really hope that you deserve this kind of love, fellow Greeks! Make us proud!
To make things more exciting, kids have been born abroad or immigrated the past ten years and they need to learn properly their mother tongue.
But what was even more challenging and charming to me, was the Greeks that have been living abroad for over a century and there are thousands of people that have the need to learn the language of their ancestors.
I really love when Greeks want to get to know their language and they come to me to help them. For some reason, this gives me chills.
There are two more categories of people that want to speak this language.
- Thousands of people who have settled in Greece, they raise their children and want to work and have friends in this country.
- Language lovers that want to get to know one of the mothers of the languages of this world.
All the people that were mentioned above have something in common.
They want to learn to communicate and express their feelings and needs in the only ancient language that is still alive today. And they need this, for their own reasons.
And there comes me. There comes my love for my language, my country, and the humans from all around the world. Yes, I have studied “Translation and Interpretation”, but I know for sure that this is not the key to success.
The key to success is the love for the community. It is being the bridge between your students and their goals. It is loving to be the person that delivers encouragement and the love for learning. The answer to everything, is love.
Now let’s talk about the practical part.
Nowadays, taking up any hobby or learning anything new, doesn’t have to be expensive. As a Web School we are trying to keep the prices approachable to all. The fee is gerenally low and the support is limitless.
But there is one extra thing, that replies to the question: “When Is The Right Time To Take Up Greek”.
The answer is to do it what you are thinking about it. It is like creativity. When our heart asks for something we need to start doing it straight away. It is not about my classes. There is so much free material online which you can use for your benefit. I share a lot of daily material in my Facebook Group too. Start today.
