It is important that you read the articles in the correct order and prepare yourself for each day.
Today we will dive into the practical part of the procedure of learning. To be real, practice is what boosts our psychology and confidence, and go further.
An expression I read and I totally adored in the book of Napoleon Hill “Think and Grow Rich” is the notion of being a “practical dreamer”.
*You can find this best selling book of the last 100 years in the web library of My Greek Teacher in the Self Help Section
What I would add to this brilliant expression, is that a dream without practice is nothing. And practice is nothing without a dream.
A dream without practice serves the idea of avoiding our every day reality. This is the brutal thuth.
Practice without a dream turns into stress many times towards the wrong direction. No one can guarantee to you that you are working towards the right direction, when you don’t have a dream, a goal about it that makes you feel satisfied.
It is a daily practice, a daily habit to move ourselves to a level we deserve to be.
Learning a language can be a trick to help ourselves practice towards this direction.
So today I will talk to you about the magic number of “2” and how this number can help us do the practice of our dream.
In Day 3 we will start practicing learning two new words a day, every day, from now on in our life.
Which hour of the day can I be doing this?
It can be when you start your day. When you sit on your desk. on the but to work. While making your coffee or you do anything to start your day. In the evening or you dont have to pick a time! Whenever!Any time of the day. It just needs to be every day.
Just 2 words per day. Do you think it’s funny? I am the living proof that this method works.
It has always been a struggle for me to sit down and study. Let’s not start talking about my weak memory! I can’t memorize anything.
Now let’s do some easy Maths. 2 words per day give us 10-14 words per week.
10-14 words per week give us 40-48 words per month. Do you think that 40-48 words are not important? Well, for me they are very important.
It is very important for me that an adult, with a job, with no job, with daily stress, fears and all the problems we face each one of us in our personal life and community as a whole, learn almost 50 new words in an another language in a month.
It means that this person keeps on working, commited as an ant. It means that this person is doing something, no matter what is happening around them. And this can be anything far away from funny.
This is how I started. I couldn’t do anything because of anxiety and depression I had for years, until the magic number of “2” came into my life.
I started from 2 words of a language, 2 bullet points of ideas, 2 glasses of water, 2 paragraphs of a book. And I can guarantee to you that this number multiplies itself.
The idea is to do it long term. It is to tell myself that I learn new words of Greek or anything else I want to learn, because this is part of my identity. This is who I am. I learn new things and I do cool stuff like that.
Of course there will be days of giving up, of course there will be days of forgetting! This means nothing to you!
You are learning Greek now because THIS IS WHO YOU ARE you do cool things like that, you just forgot to practice for one day! Hello??? That’s not important! Keep on doing it!
Probably, if we try to learn 10-12 new words of a language in a week all at once we will find it difficult and our brain will try to avoid it.
So, for your Day 3, go out there and find 2 Greek words to learn.
This was, tomorrow, you will not be starting from 0.
